The Audience

The audience for a film can vary due to many factors such as disposable income, social class or maybe the simple age rating but one of the most persuading features to help the audience choose a film is by the ratings . The audience of a film is suggested by some points such as: age an gender working class education occupation and income  T he ratings they can be changed to make a film look good and most of the reviews usually come from journalists from the worlds major news networks such as the Guardian and the New York times and on many cases the journalists have been bribed or that some movie studios have been smart and cover up part of the star ratings on the promotional art. The audience to a film can also be affected by the viewers disposable income as the higher the working class you are the more disposable income you have and this also relates to the cinema you would visit to see a film and this is decided by the price of the tickets and of course the price of...

Audio

Image
21st of September 2018 Audio 20-20000 hz is the amount you can hear and eventually decreases over time. and if you say nothing and record it its cal wild track. Wavelength This is audio level meter and the entire time while editing you must avoid distortion the audio meter measure the increase by going compared to the ppm meter. In a tv show what you can hear is voice/dialogue and the level is 5.5ppm SFX are at 3 ppm and music is at 4ppm. sound and recording  with sound we would record left and right sound and that equals to 2 channels and you would usually have an onboard mic and that you also have an external mike which is a boom and the boom has a direct mic shotgun/rifle mic or a 416. you should separate the two pics onto the 2 channels onboard and boom and you do this to back up any sound just in case one mic stops recording or the file might corrupt. in the frame of a close shot type you adapt you sound to the shot. Key Words Wild track: is a form o...

Types of dialogue

Okay with the subject of sound there are a few things you will need to know such as that sound can be split into 2 large groups  Diegetic sound which is a sound or music which is physically being made on screen and this mean non-diegetic sound is sounds or music or dialogue not being made on screen and usually put in after filming in post production. Lets start with dialogue first off dialogue which is part of both of groups and this is what is spoken by the characters on screen but there can be other types of dialogue spoken off screen and narrated of a few shots this is called a voice over or Narration this is basically an off screen voice narrating a scene but narration can be used to provide backstory on a character or a location In the film and this type of audio is always recorded in a studio never on set as the set can be a loud space and can affect the voice over. Music can be made on screen but in most cases its usually made in a studio not being made on screen b...

“ The only source of knowledge is experience” -Albert Einstein Let’s not talk about what I was let’s talk about what I am striving to be what and how I want others to see me. I would like others to see me as a team player someone they can turn to if they need help and that I am always looking for new knowledge to expand my experience in life I also have many interests outside media such as cooking and kayaking. My dream is to work as a camera operator for a TV or film company or work for an independent company I also want to eventually go to Japan to see the beautiful sites and amazing culture.

SUMMER PROJECT

This scene is originally from Rouge one a Star Wars story directed by Gareth Edwards he is also known from being the director of the 2014 Godzilla reboot even though he isn't my favourite director I still chose this scene due to its use of music and the different types of shots  and the lighting  used in this ending sequence.   Rouge one  isn't  my  favourite  film my favourite film is  actually  The Hobbit: the battle of the five  army's and that my favourite scene is when  Thorin  and the dwarves charge into battle to defend the dwarven homeland of Erebor and that my favourite director is  actually  Peter Jackson because of his use of location not sound stage   When I chose this  scene  I needed to think how I was  going  to  make  this play  out  the way I wanted  by   analysing  the scene to see what I could do to make this  as close...

EDITING

Pixels FPS-frames per second  25 is the standard in England. there are 2 fields per frame and a single frame is scanned twice Interlaced is when there are 2 sections in a visual image on the screen such as the picture and the sound both interlaced and passing  through progressive avoids jaggies 50 hz is a field in a frame 25fps 50hz  P.A.L                     Phase Alternating Line If you don't know how to use a bin I shall tell you. when you first start up premier pro you go to the bottom right of you're screen and there shall be a box then you must look for the little file this is what we call a bin this is where we store all shots and audio or any other effects or music you will need while editing as it saves time and also tidy's up you're work space. The Black video what I did here is set the time code to 10 horses the universal standard starts at 10 hours

The Hobbit Battle of The Five Armies Text analysis

Image
This text is in the form of a movie rendition of the orginal book series by J R R Tolken and just by looking at who orignally wrote the hobbit Tolken is renowend for his many novels on the genre of fantasy but in this novel was a large action sequence. This poster uses colour to help present what happens in the film such as blacks and oranges show death or fire such as in the lower section of this poster there is a large swcale battle with bodies scattering the battlefield and this also kind of give us the type of people who would seee a film like this the age range would bhe around 14-30 or maybe older as tolkien was born before the first world war. Also in this poster the amount of wepons scatterd around the poster which continues to show the genre of action and fantasy as there is a droagon prsent in the background. This is film was created to entertain the audience but to also help us fee...

The 8 Frame Film

Image
The 8 frame film is a task we were set to put our new found knowledge of shots to the test as we were split into groups of 3 and tasked to make a 8 frame film without using editing software or the luxury of cutting film. So in our groups of three we had to storyboard our ideas to give a small and simple story so we thought about someone getting a drink from a vending machine so we thought our starting scene can be an Extreme close up shot of someone's eye and then quickly show a medium shot of the vending machine as it looks like he is eying it down then quickly switch back to the person liking his lips in a close up then an XCU on the person arm on placing the change in the machine and acquiring a drink then we go to a trailing shot of the person in question walking out of the building with the drink and then entering the creative studios tunnel in a long shot and that's the ending of the 8 Frame Film but the filming was after lunch and after lunch and this is when Justin i...

THE 2 SECTIONS OF CINEMATOGRAPHY AND THE 8 KEY SHOTS

Image
We talked about the 2 branch's called Microelements and Macroelements the microelements consist Cinematography, sound, mis en scene and editing whilst Macroelements consist of genre, narrative and representation the one we focused on today was Cinematography. The art of cinematography is the merge of motion and pictures and eventually the addition of sound to make a moving masterpiece. A factor of cinematography is the different shot types: Extreme long shot (XLS) this shot is used to set the scene around the subject and to help set the tone of the scene plus it gives you a good view of the subjects surroundings this is my personal favourite type of shot as it helps you as director set the scene more easily by showing the audience the location. Long shot (LS) this is used to help the audience see the subject in detail if the subject was a person you could see what he or she is wearing and a bit of the area behind them and its also used to establish the location. Medium ...

Induction part 2 and 3

Day 2 I walk into the creative studios and who do I see  James Fox AKA Foxy who turned out to be partially insane as he slipped off his shoes and started to explain the main forms of media and what brings it all together by shouting and sectioning media into SOUND! TV! AND FILM! and this was probably one of the highlights of this induction week as he turned the boring class rules into a cavalcade of life story's and many of James's embarrassments and successes but the major part of this day I was looking forward to was the filming stage. This was set to be done after lunch and as soon as we got back from lunch we divide into the cringe filming process of possible the best story ever created and as me as the camera man, Palina as the Director and Nathan and Jack as the glorious actors we set to work acquiring a camera from the Springboard lads Scott and Richie and set to film in the little garden at the back of the reception block the best scene in our short film was when Nat...

DAY 1:The tutors are wild bunch of characters especially Justin  who I consider the king of the pop culture and then we met Luke who is the embodiment of wisdom of this course To help us figure out our way around college Justin had set up a treasure hunt at the main spots on the campus such as the LRC and the Tower block and to get us to start to work in teams and to get to know each other a bit better but we all mainly did to get some Ben and Jerry ice cream. the main thing we did yesterday was learning everybody's names and what they do or what we have in common we also had to sit through and Introduction presentation about the course which wasn't that bad to be honest the tutors are quite funny when you first meet them. After one of the breaks we were Introduced to Tony who is the sound guy who tasked us to create a short film about an item so we were split into groups of 3 to 4 and were given an item was tasked to write a storyboard about our item which turned out t...
